When no one's looking, this guy can be a little naughty too!!!   Yes, that's my blue knit throw I keep at the end of the bed...he turned it into HIS bed and, in the process, snagged it all over!!!  I guess he was just trying to stay warm!  Maybe its time to break out the sweaters...

He's Baaaack!

I realized I haven't posted many naughty Truman stories lately.  Weird.  Like the title said, he's baaaack!  I suppose the holidays are just around the corner, so he is earning his Naughty status for his stocking! ;)  I happened to have a cold for the last week, so I kept a box of tissues on my nightstand for use throughout the night (TMI?).  They were even the good kind with lotion on them since I was going through boxes at a time!!!  I'm sure you can imagine what happened when I wasn't looking...in fact, I was working so hard on the new blog header that I didn't even notice Truman wasn't around.  Naughty little boy! ;)

What sparked my suspicion:

The evidence:

The Innocent Bystander:

The Accused:

The Contrite:

I have to keep reminding him that Santa is coming very soon, and there just might be a lump of coal in his stocking if he doesn't shape up!  On a side note, my students looooove to hear naughty Truman stories.  It's their favorite pasttime every afternoon!  =)

Nieces

Harry and Tru love going to Houston and seeing their nieces...especially little Miss Annabelle!!!  I think it's mostly because her hands are just a few short inches above their noses!

Yum!  Thanks for the cracker you didn't mean to give us, Annabelle!

Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad August

So before we knew that this
was caused by this

,
we thought it was caused by this

.
So when this

kept popping up, we called in the professionals to get rid of said bugs.  Mr. Exterminator (the terminator as I like to call him) was just positive (on the phone) that we had them.  Afterall, we had been to Europe this summer where they're apparently taking over!!!  So, after not finding any signs of said bugs, he laid some sticky traps down around our entire bedroom to try to catch them in the act.  Peter and I immediately moved out because we couldn't stand being eaten anymore.

Every morning the traps were clear, so we just couldn't figure out what was wrong!  I thought we had finally figured it out when Peter texted me at work one morning to say he caught a bug!!!!

A Tru-bug!!!!

Silly bug!!!

We were warned that this stuff is really sticky, so we were prepared!  Peter oiled him up, and it came right off (a few whiskers were caught in the line of fire).  Next up, a bath!

Pre-bath, all oiled up!

And guess who was to blame all along for those terrible, horrible, no good, very bad "bites"????

AND

Luckily, it doesn't affect them...they're just the furry carriers!

The Aftermath of the Bath

So both the pups absolutely hate bath time.  They know it's coming, and they head for the hills when it's their turn!  This morning, we washed them outside with the hose inside of a drink bucket.  Might as well take advantage of this 100 degree heat when we can! ;)  Here's a quick before shot:

Cute, but dirty!

Harry went first.  As soon as I let him back inside, he jumped in his chair and pouted.  Life is rough.
Next up was Truman, who immediately tried to escape the second he hit the water.  Don't worry, we were prepared!  He's a different story when he comes back inside.  He runs around like a crazy man with a toy, and then he writhes around on the rug over and over again!!!  So cute!

Play with me!

But wait until I get this water out of my ear!

And let me scratch my back a little too!

Harry says, "What's the deal, Tru?!?  Bath time is not fun at all!!!"

Now I need to go clean the living room, thanks to this guy!

P.S.  They got baths because they have very important visitors arriving tomorrow, and they wanted to look/smell their best! =)

Dog Run

I've been trying to get this on video for a very long time.  Truman does this about once a day, usually right after coming in from outside.  For some reason, he gets really excited and starts running like a maniac from the hall into the living room.  Back and forth, back and forth!!!  Sometimes it involves a toy; other days he just runs.  Personal preference, I guess.  Poor Harry just tries to stay out of his way!!!

ENJOY!!!

Summer Holiday

Well, our parents went off and left us again this summer.  They went somewhere where people use the word "holiday" instead of vacation.  While they were off using proper English, we got to stay at Nana and Papa's house for 2 whole weeks!

We had tons of fun sitting on the round carpet, staring out the front door, and barking at every little thing that might have gone by.  When we weren't doing that, we followed Nana around everywhere!  She talked to us 24/7.  Mommy said that she did that to her when she was growing up, too!  Nana and Papa also bought us new toys...just like last year!  One says "No cats allowed," and the other one says "Here comes TROUBLE..."  I bet you can guess whom each one belongs to! ;)

For Mom's sanity, Papa posted updates on Facebook for her every few days.  That way she didn't have to call all the time to ask how we were doing.  We tried Skyping them in London, but they didn't answer.  Their really nice, adorable, chic hotel didn't have free Wifi.  How rude!

Other than that, we pretty much just played (Tru hogged the toys) and slept, played and slept.

We had such a good time (minus the teeth-brushing every other night).  Nana and Papa sure know how to make us feel right at home!  We love and miss you guys!!!  Thanks again!!! =)

P.S.  These photos are courtesy of Papa's FB status updates.
P.P.S.  Mom didn't even cry when she left for her holiday this time!
P.P.P.S.  We think Grandmommy (Nana) really misses us.  She called the day after we got back home to see if we had asked for her.  We are so excited to see her again in a couple of weeks when she comes up to help Mommy set up her classroom!  YAY for retirement!!! =)
P.P.P.P.S.  When are you going to get your own doggies for us to play with??? ;)

Introducing...

Mr. Pig

We've had Mr. Pig for a month or so now, anticipating the demise of Little Lamb.  Truman just never seemed to take to any other toys like he did his lamb.  Well, I think his mourning period is over, and he has now moved on!

Would you agree?

Look familiar?

For those of you who don't remember...

Ahhh, it feels good to know that our plan worked.  Introduce a toy of similar size and shape (color and texture a little bit off, but dogs are colorblind, right?), and eventually he'll love it!
We'll be sure to pack Mr. Pig for Nana and Papa's house next week!  And we won't forget your squirrel, Harry! ;)

**On a side note, both dogs are doing well after vet/dentist last week.  Truman had to have one dead tooth pulled, but you can't even tell it's gone.  We are now brushing their teeth every other night in hopes of staving off another cleaning in the near future!  Sorry, Mom & Dad!  And thanks again! =)

Not-so-pearly whites

This guy
and this guy

are just enjoying a lazy Tuesday, sleeping and chewing on bones.

Little do they know they have an appointment with the vet (Harry's least favorite place on earth) tomorrow to get their teeth cleaned...dun dun dun!!!!  Now, this isn't just your ordinary cleaning how people think of it.  No, no, no!  This requires my poor pups to have blood drawn and tested (that in itself is a terrible thing), and then for them to be put under anaesthesia.  My poor, poor pups.  The vet says it's routine, and if they find any other problems (like loose teeth) while they're doing the procedure, they'll call and let me know.  Apparently we shouldn't have even waited this long for these guys to get their first teeth cleaning!  AND most likely it will have to be done again in a few years.  Plus, we'll have to start brushing their teeth daily.  I wonder how Nana and Papa will react to that one in a couple of weeks when they are watching them! ;)  Lo siento mucho, Mamacita!!!

I guess it's time for me to tell the poor guys what we have to get up so early for tomorrow...

Did you say vet?!?!?!?

Excuse me???...you mean I can't just lay around here all day?

Guess what their next appointment is after the vet/dentist???  Just look at Tru's face!!! ;)
