Introducing...

Mr. Pig

We've had Mr. Pig for a month or so now, anticipating the demise of Little Lamb.  Truman just never seemed to take to any other toys like he did his lamb.  Well, I think his mourning period is over, and he has now moved on!

Would you agree?

Look familiar?

For those of you who don't remember...

Ahhh, it feels good to know that our plan worked.  Introduce a toy of similar size and shape (color and texture a little bit off, but dogs are colorblind, right?), and eventually he'll love it!
We'll be sure to pack Mr. Pig for Nana and Papa's house next week!  And we won't forget your squirrel, Harry! ;)

**On a side note, both dogs are doing well after vet/dentist last week.  Truman had to have one dead tooth pulled, but you can't even tell it's gone.  We are now brushing their teeth every other night in hopes of staving off another cleaning in the near future!  Sorry, Mom & Dad!  And thanks again! =)

Not-so-pearly whites

This guy
and this guy

are just enjoying a lazy Tuesday, sleeping and chewing on bones.

Little do they know they have an appointment with the vet (Harry's least favorite place on earth) tomorrow to get their teeth cleaned...dun dun dun!!!!  Now, this isn't just your ordinary cleaning how people think of it.  No, no, no!  This requires my poor pups to have blood drawn and tested (that in itself is a terrible thing), and then for them to be put under anaesthesia.  My poor, poor pups.  The vet says it's routine, and if they find any other problems (like loose teeth) while they're doing the procedure, they'll call and let me know.  Apparently we shouldn't have even waited this long for these guys to get their first teeth cleaning!  AND most likely it will have to be done again in a few years.  Plus, we'll have to start brushing their teeth daily.  I wonder how Nana and Papa will react to that one in a couple of weeks when they are watching them! ;)  Lo siento mucho, Mamacita!!!

I guess it's time for me to tell the poor guys what we have to get up so early for tomorrow...

Did you say vet?!?!?!?

Excuse me???...you mean I can't just lay around here all day?

Guess what their next appointment is after the vet/dentist???  Just look at Tru's face!!! ;)

R.I.P.

Little Lamb 2006-2010

You were a good friend.  In fact, you were Truman's first best friend (second now to Harry).  Ever since Truman opened you on his first Christmas, you guys have been inseparable.  You even took the blame for Tru's potty accidents when he was just a puppy.  We'd find you right on top of a fresh pile of poo, covering for your best friend! ;)  Little does Tru know that you've actually been replaced twice.  It was a miracle when we found you again at Big Lots after searching all over!!!  I'm so sad I didn't buy more of you that day.  You will always be remembered, Little Lamb.

Here's how I found him (close your eyes if you can't handle it!):

What have I done?!?

Don't look at me!!!

First Thing...

I don't know why I've never blogged about this before...it's one of my favorite things to do everyday:

Sit back, relax, and just watch my pups play together.

The first thing they do each morning is jump up on the bed for some cuddle time!!!  Yes, in a follow-up to a previous post, the pups are now OFF the bed at night!  It didn't quite go according to plan.  They are just too cute to resist.  But after an 11:30 wake-up to the sound of heaving and the worst smell I've ever experienced in my life, they had to go!!!  Now they're gated in our bathroom every night with their cozy little beds.  We only hear them when the alarm clock goes off in the morning.  That's when they know they're free!

So back to the cute part...Truman always jumps up right next to me and licks my face twice.  Then he plops down as close as he can into my nook.  Next, Harry (being the shy one that he is) jumps up after hiding under the bed and playing coy for about 15 seconds.  He cautiously approaches Peter (his favorite petter) and then gives in and rolls right up next to him for a belly rub.  But, just wait for it...what happens next is the sweetest thing in the whole wide world.  Truman is a relentless licker.  He usually attacks my hand first....and the instant Harry hears it, he leans over and starts licking Truman's eyes.  I know, I know, sounds weird to all of you non-dog-obsessed people...but it really is just too sweet for words!

My two guys really do love each other, and I'm so glad they can keep each other company when we're gone all day at work!  No pictures to post, just a sweet story! =)

Our best yet!

We've attempted giving the dogs haircuts many times before, but it always looks terrible.  It's really just too expensive to take them more than twice a year, so we had to bite the bullet and get these pups ready for summer!

Debuting the new-and-improved Truman!
Look at those gorgeous eyes!

The legs and the feet are the hardest to get...

And now, HEEEEEERE'S Harry!
He hates the camera and always squints when the flash lights up.

Here he is soooo excited because I had just gotten home from work.  Can you tell he's barking/cute howling at me?

And that's his excited sneeze!  So stinkin' cute! =)

Here they are terrorizing what used to be our nice, green backyard.  The weeds have taken over:

Not too shabby for us amateurs, right? =)

I'm right, right?!?

So as I'm getting into bed, last night I hear Peter yell "NO SIR!!!"

Truman, the diablito, strikes again!!!

Peter left the living room for about half a second without putting away the hummus (I had worked so hard to make) he was snacking on.  Truman, the naughty boy that he is, put his 2 paws up on the coffee table like he's done so many times before and started licking it right up!

Well, when Peter got to bed he told me he put it back in the fridge because Truman only licked part of it.  Oh yea, and because we let him kiss us all the time.

WHAT?!?

That's sick, right?  I told him to throw it away immediately, but it's still sitting in our fridge.

I'm right, right? ;)

Partial Success...

So after about a year of letting both dogs sleep in the bed at night, I have come to the conclusion that it HAS to END.  This hasn't become a problem until recently.  My back's been hurting again, and both dogs have decided that it's ME they want to cuddle with at night.  This poses a problem whenever I want to move and I'm sandwiched in between the two...Truman right up next to me so I can cuddle him like a teddy bear, and Harry in my leg nook.  Being the loving mom that I am, I don't want to wake these bundles of joy, so I'm the one who suffers!  Here's the timeline of events:

Sunday ALL DAY:  Wash mattress pad, sheets, blanket, duvet, duvet cover, & pillow cases.

10:00pm:  Get into bed, both dogs jump up.  Push Harry off, he hides under the bed terrified.  Push Truman off, he growls at me and stays on the bed.

10:01pm:  Push Tru off again, he turns around to snap at me and growls.  Turn to pack leader shocked.  Pack leader gives him the look and the voice.  Tru jumps off the bed.

10:02pm:  Lights off.  Tru attempts to get on the bed.  Has hard time because he's a little short and fat.  No, Truman!

10:03pm:  Devil dog runs to pack leader's side and tries again.  NO, Truman!  Whining commences.

10:04pm:  Tru settles in his bed.  Harry gains confidence, comes out from under bed, jumps up on bed.  Gently push him off and say get in your bed.

10:05pm:  Angel & devil in their beds on my side of the room.

10:06pm:  Diablito has realized he has freedom to roam.  Hear collar jingling as he wanders around the room, taking breaks to scratch and scratch and scratch and scratch some more.

10:07pm:  Pack leader yells to get in bed!  He obliges.

10:08pm:  Blissful sleep.

4:00am:  Angel dog is smart enough to wait until we're in deep sleep to make his move.  He's nestled into my leg nook.  He knows what he's doing...smart little guy!

4:50am:  Diablito has realized that his brother is in the good bed and quickly runs to PL's side of the bed and scratches/whines to get up.

4:51am:  Mom, Dad, Tru, & Harry are cuddled up and happy again....for about an hour.

5:50am:  Mom is the only one who has to get to work at a normal hour, so she gets up to get ready for the day.

6:30am:  Dad, Diablito, & Angelito are piled on top of each other in deep sleep looking so peaceful.

I guess we'll try again tomorrow!!! =/
